Family-Friendly Dinner Potluck!
featuring The Harrisons,
World-renown ecological artists
Join us as our monthly gathering becomes our first Potluck with a Purpose, a dinner potluck that we will make yummy together with the things we bring.
There will be a needs and offers board where you can participate in all kinds of resource-sharing, a share table where you can share surplus garden produce and the like, and a topic of the month after we clear the dishes away.
The topic part of the evening will be a rare opportunity to visit with two luminaries in the field of ecological art and community action on behalf of ecosystems.
Our local treasures and world-renown ecological artists Helen and Newton Harrison, will speak and show pictures of a couple of the striking and powerful projects they have done in many countries. Their work, which you can see samples of at their website, always stimulates thought and in some cases has resulted in dramatic action on towards ecosystem restoration.
The Harrisons have worked for almost forty years with biologists, ecologists, architects, urban planners and other artists to initiate collaborative dialogues to uncover ideas and solutions which support biodiversity and community development.
This evening we will get to visit with them up close and personal, and ask them about their ideas for building resilience in Santa Cruz.
