Food project group

We are a group of Santa Cruz County residents engaged in planning, policy work, and projects in support of a vibrant, locally resilient, and socially just food system in Santa Cruz.

Activities of the Local Food Group include but are not limited to:

  • increasing and preserving agricultural land
  • promoting backyard food production
  • enhancing the infrastructure of resources available to local farmers and food producers
  • building food security for all members and segments of the community
  • raising awareness about the importance of local food
  • advocating for policy measures to increase local food security and greater self-sufficiency

The Food Project Group meets on the second Tuesday of every month from 7:00-8:30pm at the Community Room at the El Rio Mobile Home Park downtown. As this group is in a period of change, please confirm that the meeting is happening before attending by contacting Michael (below).

Please join us!

Directions:
The El Rio Mobile Home Park is at the end of Pacific Ave.
►From the Eastside: take Water Street downtown, turn right on River and right again on Pacific.
►From the Westside: take Mission downtown (which becomes Water St.), turn left on River and right on Pacific.
There is no parking inside the entrance to El Rio, so please park on the street or in the Lenz Arts or lawyers' office lots on Pacific (please double check to make sure that these businesses are closed for the day...)
The community room is just inside the entrance gates in the building immediately on your right.

If you have questions or need more information, please contact Michael Weaver.
